I have lived in San Leandro for over 40 years and attended San Leandro schools growing up. My wife Michelle and I have one daughter that has followed the same path and attended the same schools I did as a child. She is currently wrapping up her freshman year at San Leandro High School.
When my daughter entered kindergarten, my wife Michelle and I became involved at her school. In our first year, Michelle became PTO president and I became Dad’s Club president. I also served as a PTO board member and as School Site Council chair. We quickly became immersed in volunteering, leading fundraisers and activities like the Pancake Breakfast, Spaghetti Feed and bringing back the school carnival after a decade long hiatus.
Before being elected to school board in 2014, I was selected by the school district to serve on the inaugural LCAP Design team as a parent advisor. Our role was to take input from other parents, teachers and district personnel and help design a Local Control Funding Formula for the district. This role gave me invaluable information on what was important to other parents, teachers and staff for our schools.
In 2015, after coaching youth soccer and girl's softball in a neighboring city, my wife and I founded San Leandro Girls Softball. We saw a need for girl's youth sports in San Leandro and wanted to provide a program for the girls in our community. Each season we attract over 100 girls that participate from the ages of 5 to 15 years old. I have served as a coach in the recreational program and as the head travel ball coach for the last seven years.
In my spare time you can find me on the softball field, supporting various causes in our city and advocating for youth sports. I am also a proud member of the San Leandro Rotary and a San Leandro Education Foundation SLED100 member.
I am employed with a long time San Leandro business as V.P. of Sales & Marketing and General Manager. I enjoy the field I am in which allows me to work with the public and local businesses here in the east bay. This business experience allows me to utilize some of the same skills I use in business and apply them in my role as a trustee of San Leandro Unified District. I look forward to continuing to serve our families as we work towards Great Schools.
